And perhaps the most important message of the entire interview was this: Ukraine is not for sale.

I examine reports that Ukraine launched at least 350 long-range drones toward Russia and occupied territory, disrupting Moscow-area airports and reportedly striking the Ryazan oil refinery, a Nebo-U radar near Krasnodar Krai, and six Su-34 aircraft. Moscow claimed 644 interceptions, a figure that does not square easily with the known launch estimate. I separate what is reported, what is supported by imagery, and what remains uncertain.

I also assess Russia’s 149-drone overnight attack, including 108 jet-powered Shaheds, and the newly completed launch base that could intensify pressure on Ukrainian air defenses ahead of winter. I examine President Zelensky’s decision to lift Ukraine’s three-day restraint on strikes against Russian refineries after he said Russia continued attacking Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Zelensky cited a major Russian barrage involving 39 ballistic missiles and civilian deaths, while also voicing frustration at the absence of an immediate U.S. response. I examine a night in which reported Ukrainian long-range drone activity disrupted Moscow-area aviation while Kyiv appeared to avoid Russian oil refineries after Donald Trump declared an immediate energy ceasefire—an arrangement that neither side publicly appeared to recognize. Instead, Ukrainian forces reportedly targeted Russian UAV and electronic-warfare facilities in occupied Donetsk, a troop site near Khrustalny in Luhansk, and the aftermath of the October 10 strike on the Novoshakhtinsk petroleum-products terminal.

I examine Ukraine’s reported Neptune missile strike on Borisoglebsk airfield in Russia’s Voronezh region, roughly 340 kilometers from the border. Ukraine says six Su-34 fighter-bombers were damaged; satellite imagery and Russian aviation commentary provide partial corroboration, with the strongest available evidence suggesting four aircraft may have been destroyed beyond repair. Ukraine is deploying AI-powered automatic gun turrets to defend Kyiv against Russia’s expanding drone campaign—and Ukrainian officials say the systems can even engage faster jet-powered drones. Twelve automated turrets are already installed, while Russia continues targeting Kyiv’s bridges and warnings grow over another potentially large missile and drone attack.

President Zelenskyy is also making Ukraine’s response clear: if Russia continues striking bridges and data centers in Kyiv, Moscow has infrastructure of its own. Satellite imagery has meanwhile confirmed the destruction of a Russian Su-35S and Su-34 following Ukrainian drone strikes on the Kanskaya air base.

The pressure is spreading beyond Ukraine. In this episode, I break down Lavrov’s speech in context: his accusations against the United States over Venezuela and Iran, his claims that the West is destabilizing the world, his attack on Germany and Europe, and his extraordinary allegations about Ukraine, Nazism, language rights, and Western military support.
