I examine the economic stresses surrounding Russia’s September 2026 Duma election and what Putin may do after securing the mandate he seeks. Reports this week pointed to fuel queues, the release of gasoline reserves ahead of voting, corporate-bond defaults reportedly up 63% year over year, and a 12% decline in Russian travel-agency demand.

I also look at the agricultural dislocation: sunflower prices have fallen amid a 50% export duty, while industry sources describe wheat exports as down at least 60%. The government’s proposed purchase of 3 million tons of grain is far below the 10 million tons analysts say may be needed in the south. Finally, I assess the reported transfer of Nestlé, Auchan, and other foreign subsidiaries to Lev Management, Aeroflot’s MC-21 delivery promises, and the pressure that economic hardship may place on recruitment and future Kremlin choices—from further seizures to mobilization or hybrid coercion.

Overnight Ukraine launched what Russian bloggers are calling the largest drone attack of the war. 1,300 drones targeted the Moscow region and the results are, well, another key refinery is on fire.
Russian sources actually laid out the three phase process for this strike that is already leading to lines at gas stations as the citizens worry about fuel shortages.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier and FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass announced the results of Operation Statewide Shield — a five-day, multi-agency operation that recovered 163 missing children across Florida, six other U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and 12 countries. Unlike the two federal-led operations before it, Dragon Eye and Operation Home for the Holidays, Statewide Shield was built and run entirely by Florida agencies, led by FDLE Tampa with support from the Office of Statewide Prosecution, the Department of Children and Families, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and 13 sheriff's offices statewide.

In this video, we break down how Florida built the operation, how it compares to the Dragon Eye and Home for the Holidays operations that came before it, where the 163 recovered children were found across the state, the three reported arrests connected to the operation, the felony cases now moving through the Office of Statewide Prosecution and the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office, and what happens to recovered children once they're placed into care.

Today the biggest news comes from the Liman direction. 

Here, Russian forces are continuing to pull back from positions west of the Zherebets River, allowing Ukrainian forces to expand their control across several settlements and secure new ground along the river line. After Russian withdrawals from the areas of Zelena Dolyna and Shandryholove, Ukrainian troops continued their counterattacks with limited resistance, pushing deeper into the previously contested zone. In the Liman direction, Ukrainian forces retook Myrne, while further north in the Borova direction they entered Novolyubivka and reached the western side of Balka Zhuravka, bringing additional sections of the riverbank under Ukrainian control. These advances have given Ukraine control over another thirteen square kilometers of Luhansk Oblast, which Russian officials claimed they have captured in full. Reaching the Zherebets River means Russian forces now have to prepare defenses along a wider section of the front, as Ukrainian positions along the river create several possible directions for future offensive operations.

As Russian forces began withdrawing from positions west of the Zherebets River, Ukrainian forces pushed forward with smaller infiltration groups across the river while gradually consolidating control of the western bank. Russian sources have reported Ukrainian groups appearing across the Zherebets River, indicating that Ukrainian forces are already probing the eastern bank and identifying vulnerable areas behind the frontline. Because Russian commanders have refused to acknowledge the full extent of the Ukrainian advance, many drone operators, support teams, and command posts have stayed in the same areas instead of withdrawing and regrouping farther east. This leaves them exposed to Ukrainian ambushes, allowing Ukrainian groups to strike the personnel and equipment supporting Russian operations behind the frontline and delay the preparation of new defensive positions along the eastern bank. As a result, Russian commanders must manage threats on both sides of the river at the same time, while Ukrainian forces use the disruption to strengthen their positions closer to the frontline. 

While Russian units are attempting to reorganize behind the frontline and guessing where Ukraine will launch its main effort, Ukrainian forces are clearing remaining positions, improving logistics, and preparing the formations that will take part in the next phase of the operation. A river crossing also requires the ability to keep forces supplied after reaching the opposite bank, with stable logistics and continuous drone support needed to hold new positions. Ukrainian infiltrators across the river are disrupting Russian lines and creating the time needed for the main Ukrainian force to move support closer, strengthen its positions, and prepare the follow up assault. Without this preparation, a rapid crossing would leave Ukrainian forces vulnerable after reaching the opposite bank, while the disruption of Russian positions gives Ukraine more time to organize the forces needed to continue the advance.

Overall, Ukraine’s advances along the Zherebets River have created a new position from which Ukrainian forces can continue developing their operations. Ukrainian infiltrators are already disrupting Russian rear areas, while units on the western bank are securing their positions and preparing for further movement along the river. The return of Ukrainian forces into Luhansk Oblast challenges Russian efforts to present the region as permanently secured and gives Ukraine a foothold in an area Moscow has spent years trying to control. The longer Russia struggles to stabilize this sector, the more time Ukraine has to turn these gains into a larger offensive effort.

In this briefing, I examine why suspected drone activity near Luxembourg Airport, reports of drones targeting British military sites, and new resilience messaging in Switzerland and the UK matter beyond isolated disruptions. My central argument is a forecast, not a prediction: a European confrontation may be less likely to begin with a mass ground invasion than with hybrid attacks that spiral into missile exchanges. I weigh the Baltic posture—including French forces in Estonia, British forces in Latvia, and German forces in Lithuania—and why deterrence still depends on a credible response.

I also cover Zelensky’s approval of new long-range operations, Ukraine’s foreign-volunteer recruitment center, and the reported $2.68 billion U.S. air-defense package. Beyond Ukraine, I assess Lukashenko’s remarks on Belarusian sovereignty, reported Russian election manipulation, new U.S. sanctions authorities targeting Russian energy, defense, and shadow-fleet networks, and why Putin’s mobilization denials may reflect domestic political risk rather than a reduced military ambition.

Something is happening in Europe. Yesterday we had multiple nations warning about the possibility of a Russian escalation creeping into NATO and EU territory.

These warnings aren’t new and one at a time isn’t anything special. But in the last 48 hours we’ve had Poland, France, The Netherlands, Finland, Lithuania and Switzerland issue warnings while the US uncovered a Russian plot to carry out assassinations inside the United States.

Now on the bright side President Trump signed the new Russia sanctions bill into law and the US appears ready to sell the largest batch of weapons to Ukraine in years, more on that later in today’s video.

Ukrainian forces have delivered a major operational blow to Russian plans in the Donbas.

Explosions rocked the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant this morning when a possibly Ukrainian attack drone slammed into the side of one of the cooling towers of the facility. The explosion has left a large hole in the side of the cooling tower, although the operational abilities of the plant have not been impacted. The IAEA has put out a statement largely warning of these attacks creating the possibility of a nuclear disaster. Meanwhile AI almost started a war with China this summer when a US special forces intel officer used an AI system to review a ship's manifest, with the AI reporting that the Chinese flagged vessel was carrying nuclear material and components. The Special forces were flying toward the ship to board it when another SOF member caught the mistake and called off the operation- which could have led to a diplomatic fallout and possible war if the operation had continued. European governments are all now warning of an inevitable war with Russia, and are urging the public to prepare for such a conflict. Iran is attempting to mobilize around 800,000 troops to expand the size of their armed forces, while Ukraine has destroyed several helicopters at the Rostov on Don airfield. A Russian drone also crashed into a field in Romania overnight.
