Iran’s military and security forces are experiencing desertion problems, with desertion rates reaching as high as 90 percent in some units, Iran International media outlet reported on Monday. According to the report, 350 police forces abandoned their posts at a single base and the overall operational preparedness of security forces is believed to have declined. Low morale, economic hardship, dissatisfaction contribute to the unrest within segments of Iran’s military and security forces. According to information obtained by the outlet, an estimated 5,000 personnel from Iran’s military and security apparatus have been killed, with over 15,000 more injured, during the ongoing US-Israeli strikes that began on February 25. A significant portion of the fatalities occurred during air attacks targeting missile and drone divisions. Among those most heavily affected are members of the Revolutionary Guards, Basij militias, and units responsible for riot control. The same sources suggest that the government has attempted to keep the scale of losses from public view by limiting funeral and burial gatherings. Families of the deceased have reportedly been instructed to conduct mourning ceremonies in private. Information reviewed by Iran International indicates that members of certain police special units were informed on Friday of disruptions in salary payments. This marks the third such delay in recent months. In reaction, some personnel reportedly refused to participate in pro-government demonstrations, and operational deployments in several major cities were affected. Further reports suggest that retired personnel and some members of the regular army have gone unpaid for two consecutive months. There are also claims that some senior officials blame the Revolutionary Guards for taking advantage of financial difficulties at Bank Sepah, allegedly using the situation to weaken police forces while bolstering institutions aligned with the clerical leadership. Additional accounts indicate that the Revolutionary Guards have attempted to address staffing shortages by calling retirees back into service and offering certain prisoners amnesty in exchange for cooperation with security forces. Within the air force, morale and readiness are described as low. Following reports that a Yak-130 aircraft was shot down during an encounter with an Israeli F-35, many pilots are said to be hesitant to carry out combat missions against Israeli or US forces. The Crimean Bridge has not yet been destroyed to allow civilians and military personnel to leave Crimea, avoiding the need to apprehend Russian soldiers in the peninsula's mountains. This was stated by military expert Kirill Sazonov on the "Factory of News " program.

"That's precisely why it hasn't been hit yet. Incidentally, it's already in a state of disrepair after the strike. Traffic is somewhat restricted there, and that's why there are some restrictions. And it seems to me that they're preserving it precisely to allow them to leave, so as not to keep them on the peninsula. First and foremost, we're interested in civilians leaving, so they don't linger there," he said.

Moreover, according to Sazonov, we are interested in the military leaving there, since catching them in Crimea, in the mountains, could be very long and difficult. "So it's better if they go. I think that's precisely why they left this bridge in place. After all, we could tear it down," he said. As reported, the Russians currently do not use the Crimean Bridge for transporting explosive cargo, but if it is included in military logistics, it will not last long.

Thus, Captain 1st Rank of the Ukrainian Navy Reserve, Head of Security Programs at the Strategy XXI Center for Global Studies, Pavlo Lakiychuk, noted that the Crimean Bridge is the Russians' last hope. According to him, after it was "shot down" in 2023 by a successful sabotage operation, the Crimean Bridge was effectively removed from the logistics plan because "Putin feels very sorry for it." Therefore, logistics were transferred to the Kerch ferry crossing, which carried fuel tanks and ammunition wagons. In the fall, our guys destroyed it, and all three ferries were wrecked. Just a month ago, they "delivered a finishing blow" to prevent their repair.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, there are now virtually no safe roads left for the occupiers in southern and eastern Ukraine.

"This is further proof that there will be no peaceful times for the occupiers on our land. This is reflected in the shortages – primarily fuel – in Crimea and other occupied regions," the head of state said.

Following the explosion on the Kerch Bridge in 2022, when a Ukrainian attack ignited fuel tanks, fuel transportation across the bridge was banned. However, the bridge remains the main route for Russian tourists to reach Crimean resorts, the article states.

However, Russian tourism associations are already reporting a drop in bookings of approximately 50% compared to May.

"We didn't notice any food shortages—except for buckwheat and sugar. We were traveling around Crimea, and the beaches were completely empty," said a family of tourists from Moscow.

"We didn't see any fuel oil in the water, although locals said that sometimes traces of it appear on the rocks."

The tourist season in Crimea has not been formally cancelled, but its prospects remain extremely uncertain. Prominent pro-Russian military bloggers are already calling on the authorities to warn citizens about the dangers of travel.
