Insurance companies refuse to issue travel policies for Crimea at any price. And now mobilization has turned the peninsula into a literal trap — men living there have nowhere to flee, because the bridge is monitored, the ferry is limited, and the northern border is the front line. Two old aircraft in the airdrome, four fuel storage tanks at the Airport have also been hit, according to Israeli media. According to witnesses, explosions were heard at several locations in the area, and smoke was seen rising in parts of the city. The joint US and Israel that began on February 28 have targeted multiple targets in the capital Tehran, killing 40 people. Germany has officially accused Russian military intelligence of an attempted attack on a Ukrainian Antonov cargo aircraft at Leipzig Airport. German officials say explosives were planted aboard the aircraft, the detonator malfunctioned, and DNA evidence links the operation to Russia.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued one of Ukraine’s most direct warnings yet about the growing danger inside Russian airspace: the “safe days for Russia’s skies are over.” Zelenskyy says Ukraine is not threatening civilian aviation, but warns that increasing Ukrainian drone and missile operations against Russian military targets and the war economy are making Russian airspace increasingly unsafe.

The warning comes alongside a broader escalation in rhetoric between Kyiv and Moscow. Zelenskyy said the United States asked Ukraine to refrain from strikes on Moscow and St. Petersburg from August 25–27, a request Ukraine complied with while Russian attacks continued. Kyrylo Budanov reinforced Zelenskyy’s warning, saying Ukraine will deliver a harsh and proportionate response and that international airlines, insurers, and partners should recognize the new reality in Russian airspace.

Vladimir Putin responded by calling Zelenskyy’s warning a declaration of “state terrorism” and said Russia would respond if a tragedy occurred. Putin also claimed Ukrainian attacks had targeted three Russian nuclear power plants and announced orders for massive strikes against Ukraine’s energy facilities and infrastructure.
