خلاصه:
محاصره دریایی ایران وارد مرحله تازه‌ای شده است. داده‌های شرکت کپلر نشان می‌دهد ذخایر نفت ایران روی نفتکش‌های خارج از محدوده محاصره، از حدود ۹۰ میلیون بشکه در اواسط ژوئیه به ۲۹ میلیون بشکه کاهش یافته و ممکن است تا اواسط اکتبر به پایان برسد. همزمان دونالد ترامپ گفته پس از پیروزی آمریکا در جنگ با ایران، قیمت نفت و بنزین به‌شدت کاهش خواهد یافت و قیمت هر گالن بنزین در نهایت به کمتر از دو دلار خواهد رسید.
در داخل ایران نیز افزایش نرخ سوم بنزین به لیتری ۱۰ هزار تومان با استقرار گسترده نیروهای انتظامی، یگان ویژه و بسیج در شماری از شهرها همراه شده است. محمدرضا عارف، معاون اول پزشکیان، با دفاع از افزایش قیمت بنزین گفته کسی که هر هفته به شمال می‌رود باید پول بنزینش را بدهد و قیمت بنزین وارداتی به‌تدریج آزاد خواهد شد.
همزمان فشارهای خارجی بر جمهوری اسلامی افزایش یافته است. بریتانیا با قانون جدیدی تحریم‌های مالی و تجاری علیه تهران را گسترش داده و اختیارات خود برای تحریم کشتی‌ها را افزایش داده است. وزارت خزانه‌داری آمریکا نیز شمار زیادی از شرکت‌های هواپیمایی ایرانی از جمله آتا، آسمان، ایران‌ایرتور، کیش، قشم، زاگرس و تابان را به فهرست تحریم‌ها اضافه کرده است. کره جنوبی نیز تیمی را برای ارزیابی وضعیت امنیتی تنگه هرمز به منطقه فرستاده و اعلام کرده گزینه‌های مختلف برای حمایت از آزادی کشتیرانی را بررسی می‌کند.
در منطقه، تنش میان حوثی‌ها و عربستان سعودی بالا گرفته است. سخنگوی نیروهای مسلح حوثی‌ها عربستان را به حملات شدیدتر و گسترده‌تر تهدید کرده، در حالی که العربیه از پیشروی نیروهای مسلح یمن و تصرف منطقه الیتمه در شمال استان جوف خبر داده است. جیسون برادسکی نیز تهران را پشت تشدید تنش‌های حوثی‌ها دانسته و گفته فرماندهان سپاه پاسداران در حال هماهنگی میدانی هستند. جوزف عون، رئیس‌جمهوری لبنان، حملات حوثی‌ها را محکوم کرده و امنیت عربستان را بخشی جدایی‌ناپذیر از امنیت لبنان و منطقه عربی دانسته است.
در همین حال مقام‌های جمهوری اسلامی لحن تهدیدآمیز خود را تشدید کرده‌اند. ابراهیم عزیزی، رئیس کمیسیون امنیت ملی مجلس، به آژانس بین‌المللی انرژی اتمی هشدار داده تصمیمی نگیرد که مانند آمریکا پشیمان شود. یک نماینده دیگر مجلس نیز کشورهای حامی آمریکا را تهدید کرده که هزینه اقدامات خود را خواهند پرداخت.
روسیه وضعیت پیرامون ایران را فوری‌ترین موضوع سیاسی در دستور کار بریکس خوانده و همزمان خواستار مشارکت جمهوری اسلامی در یک نظام امنیت منطقه‌ای در خلیج فارس شده است. چین نیز اعلام کرده اعمال فشار با نیروی نظامی راه حل بحران‌های خاورمیانه نیست و خواستار گفت‌وگو و مذاکره شده است.
در داخل ایران، درگیری گسترده‌ای میان گروهی از مردم سمنان و دانشجویان عراقی رخ داده و موضوع ارتباط برخی دانشجویان عراقی با حشدالشعبی بار دیگر خبرساز شده است. در سیستان و بلوچستان نیز فرمانده یک حوزه بسیج در شهرستان راسک در تیراندازی افراد ناشناس کشته شده است.
در اروپا، اتریش اجرای قانون منع حجاب اسلامی برای دختران زیر ۱۴ سال را آغاز کرده است. همزمان حزب دموکراتیک اروپا با اشاره به احکام سنگین علیه ترانه و رومینا رحیمی گفته جمهوری اسلامی از منحرف شدن توجه افکار عمومی جهان برای تشدید سرکوب در داخل ایران استفاده می‌کند.

Today, there are dangerous updates from Ukraine.
Here, Ukraine’s counteroffensive campaigns have been stabbed in the back by a disruption of American satellite communications. Mid-combat, Ukrainian forces discovered that Starlink terminals were losing connectivity whenever drones they were attached to exceeded certain speeds. Depending on the platform, disconnections occurred between seventy and one-hundred-and-sixty kilometers per hour.

Ukraine’s Seventh Air Assault Corps reported disruptions around Huliaipole, with Ukrainian unmanned units canceling their missions, while Ukrainian commanders scrambled to understand restrictions imposed without advance warning.

Meanwhile, the political circumstances have triggered accusations that Ukraine is being stabbed in the back by the American government, as Trump has pressured Ukraine over strikes against Russian energy infrastructure, blaming Zelensky for rising global oil prices. Yet the Middle Eastern conflict and continuing shipping risks around the Strait of Hormuz are the real major factors behind the energy-market instability, as currently around a million barrels are moved through it per day, while before the war there were twenty million per day. As a result, Ukrainian officials suspect the satellite restrictions represent another attempt to force them toward Washington’s proposed energy arrangement with Moscow.

The timing could hardly be worse, as Ukraine’s recent counteroffensives around Huliaipole, Liman and other sectors depend heavily on medium-range drones destroying Russian reinforcements before they reach the battlefield. Starlink terminals are used to identify moving trucks, ammunition convoys, troop transports, and command vehicles, then attack before the Russian targets disappear, and without reliable high-speed satellite connections, that entire process becomes considerably harder.

Russian columns could begin moving more freely through areas previously dominated by Ukrainian drones. Additional ammunition, fuel, and reinforcements could reach frontline formations, allowing Russian commanders to rebuild depleted units and prepare renewed winter assaults.

The consequences would extend beyond logistics, as Russian drone operators, previously threatened by Ukrainian strikes against their vehicles and positions, could regain operational freedom. That would increase pressure on Ukrainian infantry, complicate counterattacks, and make positions harder to defend. This threatens the operational foundation of campaigns such as Vivaldi, where months of Ukrainian strikes against Russian rear-area logistics helped prepare successful ground advances.

Long-range operations face a different challenge. Drones requiring continuous communications benefit from live course corrections, updated targeting information, and the ability to respond to changing conditions, while losing those capabilities makes missions less adaptable and less effective.

However, Ukraine’s strikes deep inside Russia generally use alternative communications and navigation systems because Starshield is geographically restricted. Consequently, the immediate disruption primarily threatens mid-range operations and air defense rather than stopping Ukraine’s strategic strikes.

The defensive consequences are particularly alarming, as Ukraine increasingly relies on interceptor drones to destroy incoming Russian Shaheds before they reach cities and energy infrastructure. These systems require rapid coordination, targeting updates, and reliable communication while pursuing fast-moving targets, and if satellite connectivity disappears during acceleration, interception opportunities shrink dramatically. More Russian drones could penetrate Ukrainian defenses, forcing missile batteries, electronic-warfare systems, and conventional weapons to compensate, which would result in additional pressure on the already stretched Ukrainian defenses and potentially more civilian casualties.

At the same time, responsibility for the cutoff remains disputed, as Elon Musk declared that Starshield operates under American government control, with restrictions ultimately determined by the US military and the president. The White House denied ordering the limitations, while American officials reportedly suggested a technical malfunction, with all sides shifting the blame. Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski publicly challenged Musk over the treatment of his European customers, reminding him that Poland helps finance Ukraine’s satellite connectivity. As a result, some service was restored, with Ukrainian officials reporting improved connectivity up to one-hundred-and-sixty kilometers per hour.

Ukraine has launched a massive overnight drone attack against St. Petersburg, Russia, with reports of strikes on an oil terminal, a major bridge, electrical substations, and a VKontakte data center. Russian officials acknowledge the attack as airport operations are disrupted, fires are reported, and power outages spread across parts of the region.

In this breaking news report, Greg Terry examines the developing situation in St. Petersburg and the surrounding Leningrad region. Governor Alexander Beglov has acknowledged the Ukrainian drone attack, reporting fires at infrastructure facilities and restrictions at Pulkovo Airport. Additional reports describe damage to the St. Petersburg oil terminal, disruptions to VKontakte's digital services, and electricity outages affecting parts of the region. The Vostochnaya 330 kV electrical substation is also identified among the reported targets.

I examine reports that SpaceX’s military-grade Starshield network imposed in-motion speed restrictions over Ukraine on October 13–14, reportedly disrupting drone interception and strike missions during continuing Russian attacks. Ukrainian officials said the restrictions reduced connectivity for fast-moving systems; civilian Starlink service was later restored to speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour, while questions remained over Starshield’s limits.

I separate the available evidence from the claims surrounding responsibility. Elon Musk said Starshield is owned and controlled by the U.S. government, with limits decided by the military and ultimately the president. Reuters reporting cited U.S. officials who said the directive came from inside the White House, while another official said President Trump did not personally request it. I also assess calls by a bipartisan group of senators for a Pentagon inspector general investigation, and why Europe’s inability to rapidly replace Starlink capability raises major operational and alliance stakes for Ukraine.

Ukraine carried out a coordinated overnight strike campaign targeting Russian logistics around the Kerch Strait, hitting fuel terminals, oil infrastructure, ferry facilities, and even S-400 and Pantsir air defense systems positioned near or on the Kerch Bridge itself. Rather than destroying the bridge, Ukraine appears focused on isolating Crimea and making it increasingly difficult for Russia to supply the peninsula. At the same time, Ukrainian long-range strike capabilities continue to expand, with reports of 3,000-kilometer-range drones reaching deep into Russia. Meanwhile, Russia launched more than 100 drones and multiple ballistic missiles against Ukraine, causing civilian casualties across several regions. The bigger story, however, may be what happens next: fuel restrictions, transportation bottlenecks, and mounting economic pressure inside occupied Crimea.

Ukraine just carried out significant strikes in the St. Petersburg area on the opening day of the International Economic Forum. An oil refinery was hit, giving quite the show to the guests traveling in from around the world and then a corvette was struck in the same area. These targets are 1,000 km inside of Russian territory and their getting hit highlights the challenge that Russia is experiencing in defending all of their territory from Ukrainian drones.
