Today, there are important updates from the Liman direction.
Here, the gap between Russian official maps and battlefield reality around Liman has become extraordinary, as Russian command maps place their furthest claimed positions roughly forty kilometers west of the actual frontline and attribute another one-thousand-three-hundred-and-sixty square kilometers to Russian control. Such claims are based on an apparently AI-generated video purporting to show a Russian soldier in Chervonyi Oskil, after which Russian sources claimed the settlement had been captured, causing reaction from Russian military analysts, who are increasingly criticizing this trend of exaggerated reporting.
That fictional picture has become increasingly difficult to preserve as Ukraine’s Operation Vivaldi advances. To counter this in the information space, Russia’s Western Grouping of Forces released footage supposedly demonstrating continued Russian presence in Nove, Ridkodub, and other recently liberated settlements by the Ukrainians. But analysts quickly identified indications that the footage was archival, with the videos filmed when Russian forces originally captured these locations in two-thousand-twenty-five, before Ukraine’s counterattack, showing vegetation inconsistent with current conditions. Another clip from Ridkodub showed a Russian soldier moving through the settlement while Ukrainian FPV drones pursued him, but visual comparisons placed the recording around August last year.
Russian military commentators have consequently begun attacking their own command’s response with the argument that the Ukrainian counterattack itself is less damaging than pretending it does not exist. Instead of acknowledging setbacks, determining why defenses failed and correcting them, Russian commanders publish old footage and maintain an increasingly fictional frontline, which creates consequences extending far beyond symbolic claims.
Russian soldiers witnessing Ukrainian advances while official channels insist nothing significant has happened have less reason to trust their commanders. Russian analysts have repeatedly warned that distorted reporting also damages battlefield decision-making: commanders can allocate reserves, artillery and drone coverage according to positions that exist on maps but not on the ground. The resulting disconnect can leave troops isolated and encourage demoralized soldiers to seek information elsewhere.
The real battlefield situation around Liman demonstrates why this matters, as Ukraine officially announced that its Third Army Corps has liberated settlement after settlement, releasing footage weeks after the events for operational security. The earlier penetration around Nove was particularly revealing, as the Ukrainian forces converted an old BTR into an unmanned explosive vehicle and managed to drive the relatively slow machine toward Russian defenses. Its ability to approach the target suggested Russian drone observation and fire control were not present there, because according to Russian maps, there was no threat to Ridkodub.
Now Ukrainian pressure is extending toward the Zherebets River. Russian sources themselves have acknowledged Ukrainian activity around crossings and positions near Terny, while Ukrainian strikes against crossing points and rear logistics are complicating Russian resupply. Every restricted crossing creates another bottleneck where vehicles, ammunition and reinforcements become vulnerable to drones.
Yet Russian information management continues trying to preserve a battlefield picture increasingly contradicted even by Russian analysts. After losing substantial territory and suffering significant casualties, commanders are still releasing archival or AI-generated footage and defending claims built upon earlier exaggerated advances.
Overall, Russia may claim that the Lyman front has stabilized, but fighting remains active around the Zherebets approaches, with Ukrainian infiltrators crossing the river for quick raids. Ukraine is simultaneously applying ground pressure, attacking the crossings methodically and disrupting Russian rear logistics. The widening distance between Russia’s declared frontline and the battlefield itself is therefore becoming more than an information problem: it risks actively undermining Russia’s ability to organize the defense it now urgently needs to stop Ukraine’s counteroffensive and to prevent the Russian defense line behind the river from collapsing completely.

Today, the biggest news is coming from the Russian net.
Here, the Russian bot farms have just gone completely silent, as Russia’s massive disinformation and manipulation network online was reduced to zero. Zelensky recently stated that following Ukrainian strikes on three of Russia’s nine largest data centers, a noticeable drop in bot activity was recorded across social media. These claims are confirmed by Cloudflare, one of the largest companies providing internet services. They have released statistics showing that known Russian bot traffic coming from the Russian side of the internet dropped to zero point four percent after the Ukrainian strikes, from a staggering eighty-four and a half percent before. This means that essentially, Russia’s information warfare in the online space has ground to a halt.
The impact of this is visibly noticeable. Online activity relating to political parties in the West has experienced a notable drop. Statistics from independent factcheckers in Germany for example, show an across-the-board drop in mentions of all political parties online by between twenty and thirty-seven percent. Countries across the West are experiencing similar trends, while wider claims on certain extremist parties’ online activity experiencing extreme drops of up to eighty-six percent remain unconfirmed.
The main thing that the confirmed and fact-checked statistics show is that Russia has an intense and ongoing campaign across the world to influence political debate. How this frequently works is that certain bots make extremist posts and false claims online in order to invoke a response and spread misinformation on important subjects. Other bots pretending to be voters from both sides of the political spectrum then pretend to argue with each other, hoping to bait real people into interacting with the false premise, which in turn boosts its visibility to other real people. This is how Russia creates extreme political and social divide in the countries that oppose it fundamentally. It is no wonder, therefore that when Zelensky stated that there was less hate, less division, and fewer provocations in the online space following the Ukrainian strikes, he spoke the truth.
Importantly, Russia does not only use its disinformation bot network against the West, but Ukraine has become a massive target as well. Ukraine’s new commander in chief Mykhailo Drapatyi recently stated that coordinated information attacks against him began from his first days in office, as has been the case against the Ukrainian army and government since the start of the war. Through this, Russia attempts to sow social distrust and unrest in Ukraine, as the determination of Ukrainians against the Russian invasion is what allowed the country to hold on against Russia for so long.
Overall, Russia actively seeks to break the will of Ukrainians and their Western allies at a massive scale. That scale however, has been reduced by an equally massive scale after Ukraine hit and destroyed three of Russia’s nine largest data centers that allow the bot networks to run day and night. With the information space having been much cleared up in recent days, it is important to remember how Russia’s game of dividing and conquering must not be allowed to succeed, as Russia’s crimes against humanity in Ukraine are something that all people truly oppose.

Today, the biggest news comes from the Kupiansk direction.
Here, Ukraine’s twenty-third international assault regiment has penetrated deep into the Russian lines and has cut the Russian Dvorichna bridgehead in half. Being spearheaded by elite Colombian fighters, Russians are not only threatening to lose control of over a year of progress, but are close to becoming completely encircled as well.
The operation began with an intense fire bombardment of enemy positions. The international fighters of the RUG assault regiment used bomber drones to shell and destroy over one-hundred-and-fifty-nine Russian command, observation, and deployment points in the days leading up to the offensive. Notably, they even used FPV kamikaze drones to break and fly directly into Russian positions, blowing up critical equipment. Hunting down any Russian soldier that moved out of his position, the FPV operators did not give any quarter to the Russian forces.
With Russian defenders adequately undermined, the Colombian volunteers began preparations for the upcoming ground assault. Moving out in the early morning while the Russians still slept, the ground-assault phase commenced in four distinctive phases. First, a diversionary assault took place south of the settlement of Zapadne, with between fifteen to twenty Colombian fighters infiltrating and advancing into the forest there. The soldiers engaged in intense firefights with the Russian defenders, eliminating the enemy soldiers here and taking control of the forest area.
As the Russian garrison in Zapadne became alerted to the Ukrainian attacks and moved to respond, Ukrainians launched the largest of their counterattacks in the center. Moving rapidly and aggressively, the Colombians cleared one Russian dugout after the other with grenades. Under close overwatch and in constant communication with their commanders in the rear, they were able to outmaneuver each Russian position they came across. Subsequently, the much larger forest to the north was cleared in full. The Colombians even began establishing footholds in the north of Zapadne, putting pressure on the Russian garrison and preventing them from adequately responding to each of the attack vectors.
Next, in repetition of their earlier pincer maneuver on Zapadne, the Colombians opted to pin down a larger Russian garrison to prevent a response to their earlier penetration. Small units of fighters quickly and aggressively penetrated over three kilometers deep toward the town of Dvorichna itself, rapidly advancing and threatening the core of the Russian bridgehead, which was centered around the town of Dvorichna. This forced Russian commanders to divert available reserves to containing the direct threat on their command posts, instead of addressing the larger Ukrainian breakthrough to the south.
With the Russian counterattacking forces pinned down in Dvorichna itself, the Colombians were able to push through and secure control of yet another large forest area. Geolocated footage shows the Colombians infiltrating into the forest, clearing enemy positions, and capturing further sensitive documents. Crucially, this final maneuver cut off any Russian ground lines of communication between Dvorichna and the now encircled Russian garrison in Zapadne.
Most notably, the shared footage shows Ukrainian formations operating freely through open fields, a usually suicidal undertaking due to the density of drones in modern warfare detecting almost any movement out in the open. The Institute for the Study of War reports that this freedom of movement is a strong indicator that Ukrainian formations have successfully suppressed Russian drone activity preceding their assaults. This shows that Ukrainian fire preparations and intelligence work had been massively successful in identifying and destroying not only Russian command posts, but also the positions of Russian drone operators; leaving Russians with both a lack of command and control, as well as a lack of drone fire support to counter the Ukrainian advances.
Overall, the Ukrainian-Colombian operation shows that with careful and complete preparation, Ukraine is able to advance even when faced with difficult odds. Notably, Ukrainians are showing time and time again that in doing so, they are able to rapidly take control of important ground, deal heavy losses to Russian forces in extremely favorable ratios, and most importantly do so in record time. It took Russia over twenty-one months to establish the Dvorichna bridgehead as it stood before the Ukrainian counterattacks; and in a span of a few weeks of preparation and one-to-several days of assaults, Ukrainians are coming close to dismantling half of it.

In this video, we will analyze Russia’s recent mechanized assault on Sloviansk.
Here, Russian forces launched one of their largest mechanized assaults in months in an attempt to force movement on the Sloviansk axis. What followed left burning vehicles scattered across the battlefield and turned this attack into one of the clearest examples of how much was at stake in this push.
Russia’s goal here was to break through the Ukrainian forward positions covering the northeastern approaches to Sloviansk, especially in the Zakitne and Kryva Luka direction. These settlements matter because they form part of the outer defensive area shielding Sloviansk, so losing them would weaken the defense and open more favorable routes toward positions farther back. That is why Russia launched a larger mechanized assault here rather than relying solely on smaller infantry probes, as it was trying to force a breakthrough through the outer layer of the defense in a single push.
Russia tried to do that by sending two assault groups forward at the same time on separate routes, one toward Zakitne and the other toward Kryva Luka, in order to pressure the Ukrainian defense from multiple directions. This gave the attack a better chance of splitting Ukrainian attention and stretching drone coverage, preventing the defenders from focusing all their fire on one approach.
This attack plan was meant to give the Russians several advantages during the advance. Russians also committed motorcycles to reduce dependence on roads and tight formations, allowing the Russians to cross exposed ground faster without bunching into an easy target. The Russians also sent several tanks and BMP to their assault, meant to suppress Ukrainian positions and absorb fire while lighter elements pushed forward. In theory, that made the assault more resilient than a single dense column, because even if one vehicle was hit, other elements could still keep moving, giving the Russians a better chance of achieving their goal.
However, the main weakness of this Russian assault was that both groups still had to cross exposed approach routes into a defended sector. That allowed Ukrainian defenders to track the advancing elements early, slow them on the route in, and then strike vehicles and isolated groups as the assault began to break apart. Instead of arriving as one concentrated force, the Russian assault was reduced to smaller fragments that could be destroyed separately.
The footage shows exactly how that breakdown happened in practice, as Russian motorcycles, transport vehicles, and BMP move along roads and tree lines, but instead of building into one continuous assault, those elements appear increasingly separated as they come under fire. FPV drones strike BMP and other vehicles while they are still moving, catching them before they can reach cover or support the rest of the advance. In several moments, the assault appears to lose tempo completely, with individual vehicles destroyed on the route while other elements are forced to keep moving past wrecks or stop in exposed positions. Abandoned motorcycles and vehicles were hit after parts of the assault had already stalled, suggesting a loss of momentum before the attackers ever reached the line. By the time burning wrecks begin to accumulate along the approach, the footage shows that the real battle was no longer at the point of breakthrough, because Ukrainian defenses had already turned the route into a kill zone and broken the assault apart in motion.
Overall, the failed Russian assault shows that the Russian command is still trying to break the approaches to Sloviansk through larger mechanized attacks rather than relying only on small infantry group infiltrations. At the same time, Ukraine has shown that it still has the reconnaissance and strike coordination needed to respond to large-scale assaults in this sector. That means Russia may continue launching attacks of this kind, but each failure will make this method harder to sustain. If these assaults keep failing after detection, Russia will likely shift toward smaller and less visible attacks, because once Ukrainian reconnaissance spots a larger mechanized force, Ukraine can hit it quickly before it achieves anything meaningful.

Today, Ukrainian army sources revealed a reported sabotage operation against a Russian military train carrying North Korean weapons that was targeted around six thousand kilometers from the frontline. According to Ukrainian military sources, simultaneous explosions destroyed a train transporting KN-Twenty-Three and KN-Twenty-Four ballistic missiles together with railcars loaded with artillery ammunition on the Trans-Siberian Railway. The attack occurred geographically much closer to North Korea than to Ukraine itself, and the resulting detonation destroyed the train, devastated part of the surrounding railway infrastructure, and halted traffic along the affected section. Official confirmation from Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate has not yet been released, but once confirmed, this would rank among the deepest Ukrainian operations conducted inside Russian territory.
According to operatives within Ukrainian intelligence circles, the operation was preceded by a lengthy intelligence effort. The reported shipment was allegedly tracked from the vicinity of the North Korean border as it moved westward across Russia. Such an operation would have required establishing the train’s timetable, identifying where it would slow down, and selecting terrain where repairs after an attack would be particularly difficult. Ukrainian operatives have also needed to determine exactly which convoy contained the strategic cargo before committing valuable assets. Local assistance cannot be ruled out, as some remote Russian regions have long complained of economic neglect, potentially making discreet cooperation with outside intelligence services more feasible. Ukrainian agents would have also exploited the well-known corruption among the Russian administration, as such officials with access to railway schedules or cargo manifests could be bribed to reveal when a valuable shipment would pass a specific location. According to the reports, remotely controlled explosive charges were allegedly placed beneath the railway tracks and near critical points of the train before being detonated as it entered a difficult section of the line. Choosing such terrain aims to maximize destruction while making restoration substantially more complicated.
The effects of the explosion were dramatic, as they triggered a chain reaction that detonated the missile warheads and the accompanying ammunition cargo. The KN missiles carry a warhead weighing roughly five-hundred kilograms, meaning even a single detonation is capable of causing severe destruction. The exact number of missiles reportedly aboard the train has not been established yet, but the combined explosion reached the equivalent of dozens of tons of TNT, excavated a crater more than fifteen meters deep, and completely incinerated both the locomotive and the convoy. Burning fragments from solid-fuel rocket motors ignited surrounding vegetation and railway infrastructure.
The consequences extend well beyond the destroyed shipment, even though a Ukrainian intelligence source stated that the objective was to ensure none of the missiles intended for attacks on Ukrainian cities survived the operation. However, the Trans-Siberian Railway is Russia’s main east-west rail artery, stretching roughly nine-thousand-three-hundred kilometers from European Russia to the Pacific coast and connecting industrial centers with trade routes toward China, Mongolia, and the Korean Peninsula. It carries tens of millions of tonnes of freight annually, making it one of Russia’s most important logistical networks. Disrupting even one section can create delays of up to several weeks while damaged track, electrical systems, and wreckage are cleared and repaired.
Overall, the reported sabotage represents a direct Ukrainian response to the expanding North Korean military assistance to Russia, which includes missiles, launchers for them, artillery shells, and personnel for both the delivered systems and infantry. Destroying a huge single shipment would deny Russia valuable weapons immediately, while simultaneously damaging the railway itself could delay subsequent deliveries, increasing the logistical cost of relying on long-distance military support from North Korea.

Today, the biggest news comes from the Russian Federation.
Putin is in a panic over how the war could end, proven by the fact that he has told close aides that if the conflict stops under the current circumstances, he could be hunted down and hanged because it would represent one of Russia’s worst military defeats in centuries. Rather than seeking a way to end the war, the Kremlin appears determined to secure at least one major objective, which is capturing the entire Donetsk region. For Putin, ending the war without achieving even this minimal goal could carry serious political and personal consequences. There is also a historical precedent behind these concerns because both the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union collapsed after disastrous foreign military campaigns, most notably World War one and the war in Afghanistan.
That is why Russia’s leadership has ordered its forces to reach the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions by December thirty-first. The problem is that even Russian military commanders believe this deadline is unrealistic, which is why they are instead asking to extend it until March thirty-first. This already marks the fifteenth deadline Russia has set for achieving its territorial objectives in Donbas, a sign of how far the military remains from delivering the results demanded by the Kremlin.
Based on the pace of advance over the last three years, it will take Putin at least another two to three years to take the remaining part of Donbas. Even if Russia manages to capture the most fortified cities of Donbas, namely Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, Russian forces would face multiple layered and modern defense lines built specifically to attrit and slow advancing forces down.
Moreover, Ukraine has already adapted its defensive strategy to Putin’s decision to concentrate Russia’s resources on Donbas. Russian sources are reacting with concern to major changes in the Ukrainian military leadership, including the replacement of Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky by Mykhailo Drapatyi, who rose through the ranks from soldier to general, while Evgeniy Khamara has also taken over as defense minister. At the same time, the remaining Ukrainian-held front in the Donetsk region is being reorganized into two major operational groupings. The northern Donbas grouping, made up of several corps and supporting units, has been placed under the command of third Army Corps commander Andriy Biletsky. The southern Donbas grouping, also consisting of multiple corps and adjacent units, is now commanded by Azov National Guard Corps commander Denys Prokopenko. Biletsky and Prokopenko are among Ukraine’s most experienced commanders, both having built their careers through the Azov formations. They have progressed from commanding brigades of roughly four thousand troops to leading army corps of around twenty thousand personnel, and now command multi-corps groupings numbering approximately forty thousand to sixty thousand troops each. These formations have been deployed to what has become the most strategically important sector of the war, where Russia is expected to concentrate much of its remaining offensive power. Their task is to defend the heavily fortified cities of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, as well as the newly established defensive lines across Donbas. The scale of this reorganization is already causing concern among Russian military analysts, who are arguing that Russia has little chance of achieving a breakthrough against these reinforced Ukrainian defenses. Instead, they fear that the newly formed Ukrainian groupings will absorb the Russian offensive, inflict heavy losses, and gradually wear down the attacking forces.
Overall, the deeper problem for Putin is that time is not on his side, as every additional offensive consumes soldiers and equipment without guaranteeing a decisive result. Ukraine does not necessarily need to defeat Russia outright, it only needs to prevent a breakthrough long enough for Russia’s enormous costs to become unsustainable. This turns Putin’s deadline into a dangerous trap, as their situation on the battlefield will only worsen, and Putin grows more worried for his life.

Today, there are dangerous updates from the Russian Federation.
Here, Russia is facing an extraordinary plague outbreak in Siberia after a young laboratory worker died from a mysterious, severe pneumonia, and nearly two hundred potential contacts were placed under medical observation. Daria Shipilova, twenty-eight years old, worked at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute and deteriorated rapidly after falling ill. The whole hospital was quarantined, public events were canceled, and Russia’s top public-health official Anna Popova traveled thousands of kilometers from Moscow to coordinate the response. Yet Russian authorities insist the regional situation remains stable, and that is where Russia’s story becomes increasingly strange.
According to the officially reported version, the lab official accidentally broke a test tube containing live plague bacteria while working. But Russian epidemiologist Mikhail Favorov publicly questioned that explanation, arguing that specialists handling dangerous pathogens work in protective equipment and describing infection through such an accident as unlikely. He also argued that the immediate arrival of the highest-ranking health officials in Russia indicates authorities were treating the situation extremely seriously, despite trying to project calmness to the public.
Russian authorities subsequently contradicted themselves and their own official laboratory-accident story, as they changed their version and stated that the woman died from pneumonia of unknown etiology, that testing found no microorganisms connected to her work, and that an investigation discovered no laboratory emergency involving dangerous pathogens.
Yet the precautions have been extensive, as nearly two hundred contacts were identified, several medical facilities introduced quarantine measures, preventive restrictions appeared elsewhere, and authorities launched an investigation. Meanwhile, officials initially avoided publicly identifying the suspected disease. One of the local leaders, Alexei Tsydenov, initially wrote that the woman had died from plague before subsequently modifying the statement to say she possibly had.
That combination has inevitably produced accusations of a cover-up, with the discrepancy obvious, as Moscow publicly minimizes the danger while simultaneously implementing measures appropriate for a potentially serious infectious incident.
The Kremlin has powerful reasons to prevent panic, as a genuine outbreak spreading beyond isolated contacts could force quarantines of whole towns, disrupt transportation and industrial production, consume medical resources, and create serious public anxiety at a time when Russian society is already on high alert as it feels the economic consequences of Putin’s campaign in Ukraine.
These consequences can become even more dangerous, as the Russian war machine depends upon enormous logistical networks moving soldiers, equipment, and ammunition across the country. A major infectious outbreak affecting transportation hubs, military facilities, or mobilization centers could interfere with troop rotations and training. Quarantines could remove personnel from duty, while outbreaks among tightly concentrated soldiers could temporarily disable entire formations, ending Putin’s war earlier than expected, as large-scale health restrictions would create another demand on government finances and manpower precisely when Moscow needs both elsewhere.
Overall, for the Russian government, controlling information may therefore become almost as important as controlling the medical situation. Russia has a long history of secrecy surrounding major disasters, from the nuclear power plant disaster in Chornobyl during the Soviet Union to the Kursk submarine sinking catastrophe, which Putin tried to hide at the beginning of his reign twenty-six years ago. Whether the event in Irkutsk ultimately proves to be a plague outbreak, another more common infection, or an isolated laboratory incident without major consequences, the conflicting explanations have already created precisely what the Kremlin would want to avoid: suspicion that the official story is concealing something considerably more serious. Something that could be the final nail in the coffin not only for Putin’s war against Ukraine but also for his regime.
