So Russia just rolled out some pretty impressive new technology and it sort of worked then didn’t.
It’s a new drone defense system, the Arena M, and it sounds like it may have perfectly intercepted some Ukrainian drones flying at Russian tanks. Problem is, they were facing hundreds and the system was overwhelmed.

Zelenskyy says Ukraine has 2.5 times fewer interceptors than in 2025 while Russia is firing twice as many ballistic missiles per month—and Ukraine currently has only 1% of the missile stock request he says could help protect the country through winter.

Russia has a manpower shortage in Ukraine. It’s not that they’re running out of people, far from it. They’re running out of people they want to fight the war. The undesirables. The second class citizens, prisoners and folks that to be blunt, the Kremlin just doesn’t care that much about.
And as that group gets smaller and smaller, it becomes increasingly likely that we’re going to see a forced mobilization in Russia where citizens are pressed into service and sent to the front.

Russia may be preparing for another major mobilization—and inside Russia, the warning signs are getting harder to ignore.

In this update, we go inside Russia to examine a military enlistment notice received by a 38-year-old Russian, damage at a Wildberries facility in the Tula region, and a growing queue at a Moscow Rosneft gas station. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukrainian intelligence has confirmed Russian preparations for a new mobilization after parliamentary elections, potentially involving several hundred thousand additional Russians.

Then we turn to Ukraine’s next major danger: winter. The Institute for the Study of War and Ukrainian officials are warning that Russia is likely to intensify attacks against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure while Kyiv continues to face shortages of critical air-defense interceptors.

From Russian mobilization to missiles, energy infrastructure, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and other major Ukrainian cities, the direction of this war is becoming increasingly clear.
