U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran continued for a second day on Sunday after the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei threw the future of the Islamic Republic into uncertainty and raised the risk of regional instability.

There were explosions in Tehran on Sunday as Israel said it was taking its attacks to the “heart” of Iran’s capital.

Iran retaliated by firing missiles and drones at Israel and at U.S. military installations around the Gulf, and also at the Saudi capital and the global business hub of Dubai. Earlier Sunday, Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard threatened to launch its “most intense offensive operation” ever, targeting Israel and U.S. bases.

Iran also selected a 66-year-old cleric to join the three-member leadership council that will govern the country until a new supreme leader is selected.

As I emphasized in my message following the demise of Khamenei, any attempt to appoint a successor for him is pre-destined to fail. Whomever is introduced—be it Mojtaba or Hassan—will lack legitimacy and will be considered an accomplice to the bloody record of this regime and its criminal leaders, Khomeini and Khamenei.

The collapsing regime of the Islamic Republic holds no legitimacy. The only legitimate alternative to this regime is the Transition System, the framework of which has been communicated to you through the "Emergency Phase" booklet of the Iran Prosperity Project, and its components will be introduced gradually.

To all former and current officials of the Islamic Republic whose hands are not stained with the blood of the nation: Respect the will of the people. Hand over power immediately and without violence; declare your allegiance to the nation’s Lion and Sun Revolution, and contribute to Iran's stable and secure transition to a democratically elected national government.

To the international community, I say: Stand with the people of Iran. Declare the Islamic Republic illegitimate and recognize the Transition System as the representative of the nation's will.

Victory is near. The Iranian nation will be liberated and will remember those who stood by its side during these times of hardship.

Rumors circulating in Arab media and across social platforms claim that Iran’s Quds Force Chief Esmail Qaani may have been detained or executed by the IRGC over alleged links to Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency. Reports suggest Iranian authorities suspected intelligence leaks during recent regional tensions. However, there has been no official confirmation from Iran regarding Qaani’s detention, interrogation, or execution.

Esmail Qaani took command of Iran’s Quds Force in 2020 after the killing of Qassem Soleimani and has since overseen Iran’s overseas military operations and coordination with allied groups across the Middle East. The latest claims have sparked widespread speculation online, but much of the information remains unverified and based on anonymous sources and regional media reports.

As rumors continue to spread, questions remain about whether these allegations reflect a real intelligence breach inside Iran or are part of information warfare and disinformation campaigns during ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region.
